While experts agree there are many benefits to practicing yoga in a “Hot” room, such as weight loss, detoxifying and improvements in overall health, there are also negative aspects to practicing yoga in a room too hot (above 100 degrees). It is true that sweating helps the body to detox. It is also true that a warm body burns fat more effectively. This is because heat increases the body’s metabolic rate and allows the muscles to stretch more. However, excessive heat can be harmful to the body. According to Dr. Robert Gotlin Director of Orthopedics and Sports Rehabilitation at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, there has been a significant increase of Yoga related injuries since Bikram Yoga has become more popular. He says: “if a muscle is stretched beyond 20-25% of its resting length, you begin to damage the muscle”. Therefore practicing Yoga in excessive heat (above 100 degrees) and humidity must be done with EXTREME caution.
HOT Fusion Yoga was designed to have all the benefits of “traditional” Hot (Bikram) Yoga with none of the negative, harmful attributes. With this in mind, we specifically designed this sequence to be done in a room heated up to 99 degrees. (Bikram Yoga is done in a room 100-115 degrees relying on external heat and humidity to increase body heat
and induce sweating) HOT Fusion Yoga engages the ancient practice of Pranayama (breathing techniques) combined with challenging Asana sequencing to build internal heat in the body. As the internal body heat is building the room temperature (external heat) continues to rise, culminating in a balance connection for your body to heat up safely
and begin to Detox, burn fat, strengthen and reap all the benefits of Hot Yoga without harm to your body.

HOT Fusion Yoga Q & A
Q: What is HOT Fusion Yoga?
A: Hot Fusion Yoga is a New innovative Yoga Class done in a room heated
between 85 and 99 degrees. Hot Fusion Yoga combines various styles of yoga influences including Ashtanga, Iyengar, Baptiste, Power and Hot (Bikram) Yoga.
Q. How is HOT Fusion Yoga different from Bikram Yoga?
A: Bikram Yoga is typically done in a room heated between 100 and 115 degrees with humidity between 40-60%. Bikram Yoga class is a sequence of 26 poses repeated 2x and held for 30 seconds per round. There are no inversions and no deviation from the sequence. Many people find the lack of variety in the sequence boring. Others are unhappy with the lack of inversions. HOT Fusion Yoga (as mentioned above) is a sequence designed under the influence of various Yoga styles and is challenging, athletic and interesting. Each class begins with pranayama (breathing exercises) and consists of a wide variety of asana including: standing postures, back-bending postures, balancing postures, inversions and more, with choices for vinyasa sequences in between.
Each student has freedom to create variation consistent with his/her own level of practice within the class setting.
Class Guidelines: Some Do's and Don'ts
Do Try to arrive to class early. Bring a Yoga mat if you have one, a towel, and bottle of water.
Don’t eat for two or three hours before Yoga class. Never practice Yoga on a full stomach.
Do Listen to your instructor. It is necessary to move slowly with any type of yoga. If you have
never done it before, be sure to move through the poses cautiously and pay attention to the
instruction given so that you don’t do a pose incorrectly. This can put strain on joints and
muscles and you may not know it.
Do remove your shoes upon entering the yoga room and place them and your other belongings in a cubby against the exit wall.
Do be quiet. It’s great to share a class with people you know, but it can be distracting to
yourself and others to have an extended or loud conversation.
Don’t force yourself into any poses, Set your own small goals for each class and concentrate on working toward them. Do not worry about how anyone else is doing a pose. You joined a yoga class for your own health and enjoyment. Don’t be pushed into anything your body isn’t ready for. This is a no fail road to a yoga injury. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you are unsure about a pose or position, ask the instructor before or after class, but do not perform that pose until you are certain it is being done correctly.
Do inform your instructor if you have had any prior injuries, medical conditions, or limitations of any kind. This is especially important for Hot yoga. Check with your doctor if you have any existing medical conditions before beginning Yoga.
HOT Fusion Yoga is not recommended for pregnant women!!!
